Estimator – Ground Up Projects - Family owned GC

Location : Riverhead, NY

Salary : Up to $150,000 annually

The Estimating team plays a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and competitiveness of our bids, contributing directly to our reputation for excellence.

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Estimator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate budgets, conducting quantity take-offs, evaluating subcontractor proposals, and maintaining budgets for ongoing projects. Your expertise will be vital in supporting our project managers and ensuring the financial success of our projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Budget Preparation : Develop detailed and accurate project budgets to provide clients with a clear understanding of overall project costs.
• Quantity Take-Offs : Perform comprehensive quantity and cost take-offs to support accurate bidding and project planning.
• Bid Management : Prepare and issue project bids, ensuring all necessary documentation is included and deadlines are met.
• Subcontractor Evaluation : Qualify subcontractor proposals, assessing their capabilities and financial stability to ensure successful project completion.
• Budget Maintenance : Monitor and maintain budgets for ongoing projects, making adjustments as necessary to reflect changes in scope or unforeseen costs.
• Collaboration : Work closely with project managers, superintendents, and other team members to ensure seamless project execution and adherence to budgetary constraints.

Qualifications

• Experience : 5–12 years of estimating experience in the construction industry, with a proven track record of successful project cost management.
• Technical Skills : Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with construction drawings and specifications.
• Analytical Skills : Strong ability to analyze project plans and specifications to prepare accurate and competitive estimates.
• Communication : Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with team members and clients.
• Education : Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
