Is Tenure Track: No Job Summary The Office of Teacher Education & Certification at Gettysburg College invites applications for an Adjunct Faculty position to teach one undergraduate course, EDU 320: Teaching Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Students, during the Fall 2026 semester. EDU 320 is a practice-oriented course designed to prepare future educators to work effectively with culturally and linguistically diverse students, with a particular focus on multilingual learners in PK-12 settings. The course explores principles of second language acquisition, culturally responsive pedagogy, and educational equity within a multicultural society. Students examine the impact of culture, immigration, migration, colonialism, and power on language policy and classroom practice, and they develop and teach lessons aligned with WIDA standards that support both language development and academic learning. The adjunct instructor will emphasize applied instructional strategies, classroom-based assessment, lesson planning, and reflective practice. Course assignments include teaching philosophy development, analysis of current events, engagement with immigrant families, micro-teaching demonstrations, and a teaching strategy portfolio. Existing course materials, including a detailed syllabus, assignments, and rubrics, will be provided to support instructional consistency. The successful candidate will contribute to Gettysburg College's liberal arts mission and to the preparation of reflective, equity-minded educators committed to inclusive teaching and learning. Qualifications Preference will be given to candidates who hold a doctoral degree (or are ABD) in Education, TESOL, Applied Linguistics, Curriculum and Instruction, Multicultural or Bilingual Education, or a closely related field. ESL/ELL certification and substantial PK-12 teaching experience with multilingual learners are strongly preferred. Prior undergraduate teaching experience is desirable. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to culturally responsive, practice-based teacher preparation. Day-time teaching availability is required.
