Job Duties And Responsibilities

Candidates must be willing to participate in at least one in-person on-site interview.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review state income and franchise tax returns, including supporting workpapers and disclosures
  • Calculate and analyze apportionment factors across multiple jurisdictions to ensure accurate state filings
  • Prepare and monitor state estimated tax payments and extensions in accordance with jurisdictional requirements
  • Assist with state income tax audits, notices, and other tax controversies, including drafting responses and compiling supporting documentation
  • Contribute to the preparation and review of the state portion of the income tax provision in accordance with ASC 740
  • Collaborate with outside tax advisors on complex state tax issues, planning opportunities, and compliance matters
  • Coordinate with internal accounting, finance, and legal teams to gather data, review transactions, and ensure consistent tax treatment
  • Research and analyze state tax laws and legislative changes to assess impact on the company’s tax position
  • Maintain accurate records of tax filings, correspondence, and audit activity for internal tracking and documentation purposes
  • Support process improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of the state income tax function

Skills, Experience And Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or a related field required; Master’s in Taxation or CPA certification is a plus
  • 1 to 3 years of corporate state income and franchise tax experience, preferably in a corporate tax department or public accounting firm

Skills And Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications; ability to work with large datasets and pivot tables
  • Experience with CORPTax tax compliance software is a plus
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments and with external advisors
  • Strong understanding of state income/franchise tax concepts, including apportionment, estimated payments, and state-specific adjustments
  • Experience preparing and reviewing multistate corporate income tax returns and supporting documentation
  • Familiarity with tax research tools and the ability to analyze and interpret tax laws and regulations

Salary Ranges

Compensation: $63,150.00/Year - $90,000.00/Year

The base pay range shown is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, and competencies; compensation is based on the role's location and is subject to change based on work location.
