Veteran-Owned Firm Seeking a Law Enforcement Policy Writer for an Onsite role in Washington, DC.

Executive Summary: HRUCKUS is seeking an experienced Law Enforcement Policy Writer to support DGS Protective Services by researching, drafting, and refining law enforcement and public safety policies. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring policies are compliant, actionable, and aligned with applicable law enforcement standards and interagency requirements.

Position Description: The LE Policy Writer will support policy research, analysis, and development efforts related to law enforcement operations and protective services. The role requires collaboration with internal leadership and external stakeholders and a strong ability to translate complex operational and regulatory requirements into clear, enforceable policy.

Position Job Duties:

  • Research, draft, review, and edit law enforcement and protective services policies, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and agency standards.
  • Support policy analysis and programming efforts related to public safety and law enforcement operations.
  • Maintain productive working relationships with government departments, public safety agencies, elected officials, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Assist with intergovernmental and federal affairs policy coordination, as needed.
  • Ensure policy documentation is clear, consistent, and aligned with operational realities.

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in policy writing, analysis, or a related field, with a strong emphasis on law enforcement, public safety, or protective services policy.
  • Proven experience maintaining relationships with government stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work on-site Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day

Desired Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Criminal Justice, or a related field.
  • Experience drafting policy for a law enforcement agency (municipal, state, or federal).
  • Familiarity with Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) policies, standards, or operational frameworks.
